Peter D. Gomsak, Jr. CPA, who joined the Malibu Group of Advisors in early 2000, retired in 1999 from PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, after a 35-year career, including 26 years as a partner. Pete’s professional experience includes a broad range of private and public companies across a wide band of industries. He also has extensive general management experience as a 12-year Managing Partner of Coopers & Lybrand in Cincinnati.
Upon graduation from Loyola College in Baltimore with a degree in accounting, Pete joined the audit staff at Coopers & Lybrand in Baltimore. He earned his CPA designation with honors by achieving the third highest score in Maryland on the CPA exam. In 1973, at age 31, he was admitted to the Partnership, becoming one of the youngest partners in the Firm. In 1976, he transferred to the Firm’s Hartford, Connecticut office and, in 1981, transferred to Cincinnati to assume the managing Partner position at the age of 39.
In addition to his client service and management responsibilities at the firm, Pete has been extensively involved in the community. He has served as Chairman of the board for the United Way and Community Chest and the College of Mount St. Joseph. In addition, he served The Greater Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce, where for five years he was the Treasurer and a member of the Executive Committee. He currently sits of the boards of the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority, The Equity Fund, Springer School, Tall Stacks and the Athenaeum of Ohio/Mount St. Mary’s Seminary. He also is a member of Governor Bob Taft’s Management Improvement Commission 2000, which is conducting a review of the operations of state government.
