Kenton is currently Dean of the School of Business and Media at the British Columbia Institute of Technology, one of Canada’s premier polytechnics. His career has spanned a variety of industries ranging from financial services and industrial equipment to consumer goods, entertainment and digital media. He has served as President of New Media BC, CEO of Stride Rite’s Robeez Footwear division and Chief Marketing Officer for Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers and Vancity, Canada’s largest credit union.
Before moving to Vancouver, Kenton was President of Universal Studios Online, Corporate Chief Marketing Officer for Universal Studios, and Executive Vice President for Vivendi’s portfolio of new media companies. His career also includes several years at the Walt Disney Company serving as a Vice President in Disney’s Internet Group, Disney Interactive and Walt Disney Imagineering where he led international development and coordinated the activities of a multi-disciplinary team that resulted in approval to build Hong Kong Disneyland. Before Disney, Kenton served in corporate planning and marketing roles at Nestlé USA and Clorox.
Over the years, Kenton has taught in corporate training programs and universities including 13 years as an adjunct professor at the University of British Columbia’s Sauder School of Business. He has also addressed conferences in Europe, Canada and the U.S. on topics ranging from revitalizing businesses to building memorable branded experiences.
Away from his work responsibilities, Kenton dedicates time to community organizations. He has served on the Board of Directors for the United Way BC, Junior Achievement BC and the Los Angeles Food Bank.
Kenton earned his undergraduate degree from the University of British Columbia and an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management. Kenton and his wife Elly live in Vancouver, British Columbia. Along with their son and daughter, they enjoy travel, musical theater, and their three little dogs.
