Peter Kubasek is Founder and a Managing Partner of ArkMalibu. Peter has been closely involved in more than 500 merger and acquisition projects ranging from $2 million to over $1 billion in sales representing billions in transactional value.

As Managing Director of Salomon Smith Barney based in New York, Rene held various corporate finance roles including co-head of global metals & mining practice, head of steel practice and head of paper & forest products practice. He was also a Principal in Corporate Finance at Morgan Stanley based in New York.

He is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Ottawa, where he received his bachelor’s degree in business administration. He also received his MBA from Harvard Business School. Rene has been married to Karen since 1984 and they have two adult children. Rene enjoys reading, travel, hockey, golf and is a PCA driving instructor.

Rene Robichaud

CHAIRMAN AND PARTNER

Rene is Chairman and Partner at ArkMalibu. He has helped hundreds of companies think strategically and become more successful. Rene has been president and CEO of two public companies for a total of 10 years. Most recently, he served as the president and CEO of Layne Christensen (a NASDAQ company). Prior to that, he served as president and CEO of NS Group (NYSE), which he helped grow from a $150 million enterprise to a $1.5 billion company. As an investment banker for 15 years, he has worked on capital raising and strategic transactions involving many industrial and natural resource companies around the world.

Peter Kubasek is Founder and a Managing Partner of ArkMalibu. Peter has been closely involved in more than 500 merger and acquisition projects ranging from $2 million to over $1 billion in sales representing billions in transactional value.

Peter brings a vast background of knowledge and understanding to every engagement in which he is involved. His success stems from his ability to identify the core needs of his clients, developing creative solutions and applying sound analytical and negotiating skills to each engagement. He has advised clients on preparing for exit, valuations, divestitures and financing options in a variety of areas including 3D printing, technology, services firms, communications, manufacturing, consumer package goods and distribution.

After earning an MBA from Pepperdine University, Peter began his career at Andersen Consulting in Los Angeles, moving quickly into Corporate Development roles at Nestlé USA and The Loewen Group. Peter obtained his undergraduate business degree Magna Cum Laude from John Brown University.

Peter is a member of the national Young Presidents’ Organization, the Cincinnati Association for Corporate Growth and the Business Growth Alliance Affiliate Board. He is the former President of the Cincinnati ACG. He has also served with the boards of several local charitable organizations and has volunteered in a variety of service endeavors. Peter and his wife Maryam have been married more than 30 years and have two sons, Hudson and Luke. They live in Blue Ash, Ohio. Having grown up in Vancouver, British Columbia, Peter has a great love for the game of hockey and has coached his sons and other local youth.

Bob Foresman

VICE CHAIRMAN

Bob Foresman served as Vice Chairman of UBS Investment Bank, based in New York, from 2016 to April 2020. Prior to joining UBS, he was the Barclays Group country head from 2009 to 2016 for Russia and the wider region, where he represented and coordinated the activities of Barclays Group in the region, including investment banking and wealth management. Prior to his work at Barclays, Bob was deputy chairman of Renaissance Capital from 2006 to 2009; chairman of the management committee for Russia and the CIS at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein (from 2001 to 2006); and head of investment banking for Russia and the CIS at ING Barings (from 1997 to 2000). Bob also ran the Ukrainian Privatization Advisory office of the International Finance Corporation (World Bank Group) from 1993 to 1995 in Kyiv and worked on private equity and project finance transactions as an investment officer at IFC’s head office in Washington, DC, from 1995 to 1997. Bob served as an independent non-executive director of TMK Group, one of the world’s largest producers of steel pipe for the oil & gas industry, from 2012 to 2019. He is currently a shareholder and board member of Miami Steel, a $510m private greenfield micro steel mill development and eco industrial park in South Florida; a member of the board of Ascendant Digital Acquisition Corporation II, a $300m NYSE-listed Special Purpose Acquisition Corporation (SPAC); a member of the board of Twelve Seas Investment Company II, a $345m Nasdaq-listed SPAC; member of the board of InfoSec Global, a cybersecurity firm based in Toronto; and chairman of the advisory board of Amber Lion, a Zurich-based wealth investment management firm. Bob is a member of the advisory board of Harvard University’s David Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies; and a lifetime member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Bob graduated from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Arts & Sciences in 1993 and Bucknell University in 1990. He also received a certificate from the Moscow Energy Institute in 1989. Bob and his wife, Luda, have 5 children and reside in Rye, NY.

Nathan Estruth is an Advisory Board Member and Senior Advisor at ArkMalibu. He is an experienced Fortune 20 global executive and board member skilled in innovation, strategy, and culture & talent development.

Melissa Monich

SENIOR ADVISOR

Melissa Monich is a retired Vice President of Research & Development at Procter & Gamble. She led global, end-to-end research & development teams with laboratories in Asia, Europe, and the US. These roles included responsibility for $100-300 million yearly budgets and teams of 400-700 global employees. Her skills include innovation strategy, leading multifunctional teams, technical talent development, platform development, and productivity improvement/cost savings. She was recognized for her leadership in the advancement and retention of women in R&D with a CTO Pathfinder Award.

Doug Brodman

SENIOR ADVISOR

Doug Brodman is a Senior Advisor at ArkMalibu. An executive with Miller Brewing Company and SABMiller for 17 years, Doug Brodman is known for growing businesses facing stalled growth or in mature markets, and for delivering company-leading profits, driving top-line growth, and implementing insight-based decision-making.

Maria Lankenau

SENIOR ADVISOR

Maria Lankenau is a Senior Advisor and Business Consultant for ArkMalibu. She has over 30 years of experience in the staffing industry. She has experience identifying opportunities and launching new businesses, increasing sales revenue, leading management teams, leveraging her powerful network, and building symbiotic partnerships with vendors and clients. She has created staffing and consulting solutions within the accounting, finance, and healthcare industries. Her approach is to objectively review situations and then nimbly adapt until the organization is optimized. She has the rare talent to be able to work side-by-side with entrepreneurs and business leaders to achieve both their personal and financial goals.

Kevin Jackson

Kevin Jackson is a senior advisor to ArkMalibu and a subject matter expert in cybersecurity and information technology. Kevin is a highly experienced technologist, engineer, and startup founder with over 30 years of experience in information security, IT compliance management, information systems development, business intelligence program management, and technology research & development in multiple industries.

John retired after 37 years as a recognized business leader and Big 4 Audit Partner advising companies ranging from private emerging growth to the Fortune 100. John has extensive experience in developing and effectively executing transformational business changes including mergers and acquisitions, IPO readiness, digital and technology changes, business disruption, and C-suite and Board alignment.

Stefano Mezzabotta is a Senior Advisor at ArkMalibu. Stefano is an experienced global executive who has deployed his leadership and technical capabilities in every region and culture worldwide. Stefano has served as CIO to two global corporations, Procter & Gamble and Bridgestone and has been in the Leadership Teams of several companies subject to M&A activity. His main focus is on the strategic leverage of technology and helping companies with their digital transformation throughout the entire value chain.

Carsten Fredholm

Carsten Fredholm is a senior advisor to ArkMalibu. He retired the end of 2020 from Nestlé after a long career within the Global FMCG industry, where he held various CEO, Commercial and Strategic roles primarily in the Food & Beverage space. During his career, he worked for companies like Nestlé, Mars, Findus (private equity), and is currently a board member and senior advisor for various companies in Europe.

Carl Boyd

Carl Boyd is a Senior Advisor at ArkMalibu with a broad background in financial services and banking. Prior to joining ArkMalibu, Carl had a 30-year corporate transaction banking career working for several large financial institutions based in Los Angeles.

Mark Deutsch

Mark Deutsch, MD is a Senior Advisor at ArkMalibu. Mark is a practicing Otolaryngologist at TriHealth, Inc. having been in medical practice for over 25 years. Dr. Deutsch was a founding member of Queen City Ear, Nose and Throat Associates. While serving as President, he had responsibilities for practice management, contract negotiations and strategic growth with the constant goal of excellence in patient care. He also served as the physician manager of Queen City Hearing Associates and Queen City Medical Leasing Corporation.

Josh Cunningham is a Senior Advisor for ArkMalibu. Besides his recent employment as a Managing Director at ArkMalibu, Josh has many years of M&A experience serving private clients across multiple industries, including aerospace and defense, healthcare, industrials, energy, real estate, and technology. Josh has more than $26 billion of transaction experience.

Andy Newman

Andy Newman is an Associate at ArkMalibu whose range of experience and passion for working alongside business owners has given him the drive to provide support for ArkMalibu’s senior bankers and clients throughout the M&A transaction process. He assists all associates and senior bankers in company/industry research, financial modeling, and preparation of marketing materials.

Zack Niebolt

Zack Niebolt is an Analyst at ArkMalibu who leverages his background in commercial real estate underwriting and negotiation to support senior bankers across all stages of the M&A process and ensure that clients receive maximum return for their company. His responsibilities include connecting with clients regularly to ensure that their needs are being met, performing market research, building financial models, and drafting pitch materials for prospective buyers.

Susanne Dusing

Susanne Dusing is the Executive Assistant at ArkMalibu. She joined ArkMalibu in November 2021 after 22 years at Procter & Gamble, serving 16 years there as an Assistant to executives ranging from the SVP & Chief Technology Innovation Officer, CEO and President of a P&G subsidiary, and the SVP of Corporate Function R&D. Before P&G, she was a legal secretary for 13 years at Greater Cincinnati law firms.
